Saadiyat Island (Island of Happiness)
An island sanctuary off the coast of Abu Dhabi, Saadiyat – which
translates as ‘island of happiness’ – is the emirate’s flagship
development. It occupies an area of 27 square kilometers; the
entire project is due for completion by 2018 and is created
around an eco-sensitive philosophy.
It will be divided into 7 zones – later on specifically

ZONE:Saadiyat Beach

Warm breezes and panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf fringed by

ZONE: Cultural District

This unique cultural destination will soon be home to some of
the world’s most prestigious museums and a performing arts
center including Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and Louvre Abu Dhabi.

Dhabi

Scheduled to open 2012, Louvre Abu Dhabi will display classical
works from its collection and those of other French museums. The
museum will cover 240,000 sq. ft, have 60,000 sq. ft. of
galleries for permanent displays and 20,000 sq. ft. for
temporary exhibitions.
Guggenheim Abu Dhabi
At 300,000 sq. ft., the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will be the largest
of the New York based Guggenheim Foundation’s museums and will
be devoted to displaying works of modern and contemporary art.
Sheikh Zayed National Museum

The museum will honour the late H.H.Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al
Nahyan. At 130,000 sq. ft, the museum will feature five
galleries, an educational center, a theatre, shops, a café and a
visitor services area.
Performing Arts Center

The proposed Performing Arts Center will house five theatres-a
musical hall, concert hall, opera house, drama theatre and a
flexible theatre. With a combined seating capacity for 6,300 the
centre will present the finest in music, theatre and dance.
Maritime Museum

The Maritime Museum will reflect the rich maritime history of
the UAE and the Gulf Region. Designed with a reflective surface
to visually merge it between the sea and the land it also
features a ship-like interior with floating decks to guide
visitors through the exhibition space.
Biennale Park and Pavilions

A component of the Cultural District is a Biennale Park that
consists of 19 pavilions straddling the banks of central canal.
The park will showcase a range of art and cultural activities
throughout the year.
ZONE: Al Marina
Al Marina will be the Vibrant hub of the island and resonates
with the sights and sounds of modern marina life. It offers a
blend of cosmopolitan chic and refined taste, where residents
and visitors can watch luxury yachts glide by as they approach
and world class marina. Busy restaurants line the water’s edge
and shopping malls house the best in international retail.
Luxury apartments have been designed to capitalize on the water
views while a stroll along the streets of the commercial
